Summary

The Seo Laboratory in the department of nutritional sciences at the University of Michigan is seeking a Research Lab Specialist ssociate position to assist in experimental laboratory research work under the direct supervision of a PI. This position is required to work with animals. Responsible for organizing, processing, and reporting data.  Will be expected to participate in regular lab meetings and discussions. Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities*

As the selected candidate, you will be responsible for:

•       Carrying out daily experiments with rodents under minimal direction
•       Designing experiments in collaboration with the PI or supervisor
•       Managing and analyzing data
•       Performing husbandry duties in a PI-managed animal facility, such as cage changes, animal identification, genotyping, and ordering cage supplies.
•       Maintain lab supplies and stocks

Required Qualifications*

•          Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences
•         1-3 years lab experience
•         Must be proficient with computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and GraphPad Prism
•         Willing to work with laboratory rodents for a good portion of the work day

Desired Qualifications*

•         Master's Degree in biomedical sciences
•         Experience with the use and care of laboratory animals
•         Experience handling and injecting rodents
•         Experience with calculations for solution preparation and dilutions
•         Experience with experimental design
